Coaching Horses I, a reproduction painting by Gail Guirreri aft Sir Alfred Munnings was her first real attempt finding the pattern of his genius brush strokes.
"I set out to copy not just the finished image, but the order of brush strokes. His studies reveal his speed and accuracy. Copying slowed me down a bit in this composition. I found where I missed in the order of brush strokes some but I think I was able to come quite close. My limited palette is not a perfect match to his though it did do me justice. Colors included were ultramarine blue (PB29), mars black (PBk11), naphol red (PR112), chrome tin yellow (PBr24) and transparent mars yellow (PY42) with titanium and zinc white. I finished excited to do more reproductions. There is a lot to learn from the process."
