Long Branch Historic House and Farm welcomes back artist Gail Guirreri showing her most recent work this summer from May 16 through July 31, 2022. A reception will be held June 3, 2022 from 5-7PM. RSVP are requested but not required. The walls and beautiful light offered by the mansion at Long Branch give Gail's paintings the chance to really explode in color and movement. We hope you will join us!
"These last couple years have changed us all. My view point as an equestrian artist has turned more towards home than ever. I have always used my own horses as models to study and paint from in my mind's canvas while I go about daily chores. A real game changer came with the improved technology in my camera phone. I can now capture and truly see what goes on in those swift moments of playful gestures my horses are so good at. Top jumper blood gives me super athletic, beyond normal, gestures to study and paint. This show I bring you these gesture paintings along with some polo, coaching, side saddle, hunt portraits, hounds and Upperville horse show moments. For the opening reception a few smaller paintings will be available as well including rooster, cows and hunt country landscape."
"I have also put a lot of time into studying new unique pigments over the last year. Most of us have been trained that any color can be made from a very basic group of colors. I had kept this philosophy for 30 years. Having expanded over the last year, I found colors I could never duplicate from a simple palette. I still limit each canvas to just a handful of colors but my choices now are much greater in number. Each canvas requires more time to set up a palette but I feel like a kid in the candy store with endless choices. There is so much joy in pigments that pull me threw a painting exploring reactions I could not imagine."
