"The palette was developed for my Covid 19 quarantine personal mood therapy. Purple has been my focus this summer complimented by other happy colors such as bright green and orange. In this case, quin purple, phthalo green, naphol scarlet (PR9) and winsor orange (PO73) along with titanium zinc white by Gamblin. I did not write this palette down when I actually painted it so I could be wrong. This palette has changed a few more times in the last few canvas. I have added burnt sienna and trasparent yellow in other casses and dropped the winsor orange. This mare and foal paintings are special to me since we bred, foaled and raised the foal to weaning. I love using my own horses as subjects in my paintings. I can watch them daily and really become familiar with very specific characteristics of an individual horse as an artist and a breeder that makes them unique in their breeding and portraits. It's a wonderful intellectual combination for me."
